Overview
Game Focus
Sparkball, often described as ‘League of Legends meets Rocket League/FIFA’, is a competitive game the team calls a “Sport Brawler” where two teams of 4 players face each other using different characters.
Gameplay
The objective is to score in the opposite team’s goal using a giant ball. Matches last for about 15 minutes and are meant to be fast-paced.
Players can choose from different characters with different skills and abilities with the main archetypes being the three classics: Tank, support, and DPS (Offensive damage dealer).
The character's overall feeling could be compared to what you would expect in a MOBA like League of Legends or DOTA with different abilities and an “Ultimate”, an ability that can only be used after a long period. One of the bigger changes from your typical MOBA is the WASD controls, which result in much more action-packed/twitch-based combat.
Next, the map is a fairly small arena with a goal on each side. Crates appear in the middle of the map to provide players with boosts. There are many interactable objects that players can interact with to move quickly around the map.
An item shop is present on both sides where players spawn. Anyone can buy items in the shop to customize their build according to their strategy, team composition, and more. It’s also possible for newcomers to use the auto-buy option for their items.

Gaming Narrative
The web3 gaming ecosystem is mostly focused on economy and speculation. Opti Games aims to provide a gaming experience focused on fun first. Sparkball is a game that puts gameplay first since this is what the bulk of gamers around the world are looking for in video games.
Next, there is the competitive aspect. Many games like CS:GO, League of Legends, and Valorant found greater success thanks to their competitive scene. While Sparkball can be played by anyone, the skill level cap is very high. This means there is room for a competitive scene to be built around it.
Lastly, Sparkball differentiates itself from many projects with its appealing art style that rivals many high-quality games. Characters all have a very distinct feeling to them which will likely make players more engage when deciding which character they will bring into the Sparkball Arena.

Sparkball is a very fun game with a unique value proposition. Their early metrics & momentum with playtesters show that their core product has legs.
The biggest challenge for the team will be twofold:
- Reviving their Web3 community as they pivot back to a focus on Web3.
- Creating a compelling Web3-oriented product that does not alienate their Web2 player base.
The team has the product & the tools to build something incredible. The success of this team hinges on their ability to attract & galvanize a strong Web3 community through a compelling Web3-oriented product that does not sour a Web2 playerbase.
