Project Focus


PlayGround is an infrastructure project that aims to become the user acquisition layer for Web3 gaming.

Premise


One of the biggest problems of Web3 gaming currently is the lack of players and the absence of solutions to quickly and seamlessly onboard gamers.

PlayGround provides a multi-modal user acquisition protocol to attract millions of mainstream players from Tier 1 countries to curated Web3 games. This process is trackable through their unified cross-platform PlaySDK.

The player data gathered via their PlaySDK forms a foundational data layer. This data can be utilized by all games and dApps for more effective user targeting in the future.

The Discord server is very active with a fair level of organic activity. The general chat sees hundreds of messages daily from different users. A mix of moderators and members of the core team are actively answering questions, which helps keep the community informed.

The caveat here is that most users are active to farm for $BEYOND tokens. This could potentially attract the wrong kind of users looking for a quick flip, although this is partly addressed by the fact that airdropped tokens will be vested over several months.

As for X, it is hard to distinguish airdrop farmers, bots, and organic users, although there is certainly a mix of the three, which is positive. The numbers are quite staggering right now with 472k followers, and their most recent post getting 40k likes and reposts.

While researching Playground we found their approach to solving the player acquisition issue in Web3 gaming very interesting. Clive, the founder, has made it clear that PlayGround has a well-thought-out plan to attract and retain players, which is critical given the current lack of engagement in Web3 gaming despite the rise in game quality.

The integration of PlaySDK for tracking user data and PlayDISCOVERY for targeted campaigns shows a deep understanding of the needs required for user acquisition and retention. Their ongoing talks with over a hundred active streamers give confidence in their ability to bring players to their platform. Overall, PlayGround stands out as a project with a lot of potential in the Web3 Gaming landscape.
